My Approach to Helping
When I am working with someone, I focus on creating a safe, welcoming space that is also engaged and challenging. As we go through life, we adapt to experiences in the best way we know how. When feelings or behaviors are creating problems for us, it may mean that the ways we’ve been coping or adapting aren't working so well for us anymore. Skills are definitely important, and therapy can help with managing daily life and challenges more effectively. But over time, gaining insight and learning to relate to yourself and others differently can provide you with more sustained relief and greater control over your responses and choices. I am most passionate about working with people on a deeper level to develop awareness of underlying conflicts and issues, creating the opportunity for significant, lasting change. Maybe you feel anxious, sad, angry, or disconnected, but don't know why. Or maybe you know why but struggle to manage it or make change. Maybe you feel like you're stuck in a loop. Therapy is a great way to get unstuck and realize your potential.
