My Approach to Helping
I have been working in the field of substance abuse and mental health since 2006, and specialize in treating clients with Co-Occurring Disorders. Prior to entering the MSW program at San Jose State University, I studied Sociology at UC Santa Cruz, and received my BA degree in 2005. I have a solid background in social theory, and I apply social theory as part of my clinical approach, thus increasing awareness of my client\'s perspective.
As a multi-racial person that has grown up in the Bay Area, I place great emphasis on diversity, cultural and ethnic backgrounds, classeconomic background, gender, generational differences, and the wonderful complexity of human beings. I have built upon my theoretical foundation by gaining experience in direct client services.
As a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) therapist, I am committed to collaborative relationships with clients to maximize their capacity for growth. The tools that I teach clients allows them to become more resilient to the many speed bumps and potholes that we encounter along life’s path.”
