My Approach to Helping

It is impossible to construct a human life untouched by suffering. We all experience challenges in life, loss, unexpected upsets, and physically painful experiences. These events can bring us into contact with difficult thoughts and emotions that we often work very hard to get rid of. Often times, the work of avoiding and denying these painful experiences leads to a paradoxical effect that seemingly amplifies the very pain we seek to eliminate. How you think about and perceive challenging life events can create more suffering and pain! I am passionate about helping both young people and adults not just manage or cope with their difficulties, but to learn to develop self awareness and strategies to alleviate their problems, and thus promote their highest human potential.

I use an integrated approach that incorporates mindfulness techniques, including present moment awareness, willingness and acceptance of experience, psychological flexibility and self perspective taking, clarity and ownership of values, and committing to values based living. I welcome the opportunity to help you discover your inner strengths and create happiness and inner well being.

I also offer psycho-educational and neuropsychological testing for children, teens, and young adults. These are a collection of tests designed to assess learning strengths and weaknesses. These evaluations also include information about thinking and processing skills, motor and visual-spatial abilities, attention and executive function skills, along with reading, writing, and math skills. My evaluations are extremely useful not only in helping navigate the academic landscape, but also in fostering self acceptance, rather than feelings of failure. My goal is to help you flourish by turning your challenges into your biggest strengths.
