My Approach to Helping

*Accepting New Clients. I accept self-pay, Blue Cross and Blue Shield, and Friday Health Plans. Schedule an appointment online by clicking through to my website. Sessions are available by Telehealth online secure video anywhere in North Carolina.

I specialize in EMDR (highly effective for healing trauma), Mindfulness-Based Somatic Therapy (emotionssensations in the body in the present moment), and Parts Work influenced by Internal Family Systems (exploring the feelingsneeds of the many parts within us). I am passionate about healing trauma. I see counseling as a practice of assisted self-discovery. Awareness of the present moment, attention to emotions and sensations in the body, and mindful witnessing of thoughts are at the heart of my practice. My approach to counseling is compassionate and non-judgmental, and I provide a safe space for you to turn toward your experience rather than away. A whole body-mind approach is much more effective than talk therapy alone.

I also use a variety of other forms of psychotherapy including Hakomi, Contemplative, Person-Centered (Rogerian), Gestalt, Existential, and Cognitive-Behavioral. I have a Master’s Degree in Counseling, I am a National Certified Counselor with the NBCC, and I am Licensed with the North Carolina Board for Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselors.

Education: Master’s Degree in Counseling, National Certified Counselor with the NBCC, EMDR Training with Thrive Learning, Hakomi Training with the Seattle Hakomi Education Network, Internal Family Systems with Everett Considine, Over 15 years of experience with Solsara & Heart of Now, Deep Dive Circling Intensive with The Circling Institute, Radical Aliveness with Ann Bradney, Workshops with Sarah Peyton and Bonnie Badenoch, 200-Hour Yoga Teacher Training, Authentic Relating Facilitator, Shambhala Heart of Warriorship, Training in Vipassana and Zen Meditation, and Extensive World Travel.
