My Approach to Helping
Though encountering problems over the course of one's life is a perfectly normal occurrence, it can be incredibly taxing. My goal is to always quickly and effectively help my clients find a solution to overcome these debilitating conflicts. The first step in this direction is the creation of a wholesome and trusting environment in which it is possible to work together in developing strategies to face such challenges. A key element in achieving this goal is the reestablishment of the clients' relationship with their own resources, abilities, and strengths. In order to change certain behaviors (such as addiction, compulsive and anxious behaviors) I apply techniques from Hypno-systemic and behavioral therapies with Intensive-Short-Term-Dynamic Psychotherapy (ISTDP) being my preferred approach.
ISTDP: In the case of a deep-seated problematic that is closely entwined with the entire personality, the best way forward is the application of Davanloo's method of intensive short-term psychotherapy. 40 years of empirical research has led to a solid treatment of various forms of anxiety and depression, as well as other mental disorders such as personality and social disorders. The aim of this technique is to overcome emotional blockages from the first meetings onwards, by accessing the subconscious roots of the disorder and removing them effectively and completely. ISTDP differs from other psychological treatments as it is a confrontational method that directly targets the emotional center of the symptoms (see: ).
