My Approach to Helping

If you are looking for the space to process your life in all its pain and glory, I am excited to connect with you. I live with multiple chronic illnesses and disabilities and have experienced intractable chronic pain, so I hope to connect with you through my lived experiences and provide hope for you when you may no longer be able to hope; where there is a sense of defeat, I hope to hold a safe space for you to unpack whatever is on your heart. I specialize in working with those who are experiencing or caring for people with chronic pain and chronic illness. I bring my whole heart and authentic self to therapy. I utilize warmth, collaboration, and curiosity in understanding who you are as a whole person. I draw from several different schools of practice, but all of them have a central tenet of placing importance on our relationship: on creating a safe space for you, connecting with you, and allowing you the freedom to feel truly seen and deeply accepted. I lean towards the philosophies of Emotion Focused Therapy and Existential Therapy.

I fully believe that being seen, witnessed, and heard without judgment by another human being is one of the most healing experiences we can have. In our sessions, you can show up as you are, how you are, and where you are. I am an advocate for vulnerability, and a holder of space for hope and healing. I believe we require less fixing and more accepting, less criticism and more self-compassion, and less perfectionism and more “good enough”.

In my practice, I support people who want to find more acceptance, wholeness, and hope in the story of your life. I serve not as an expert or someone with all the answers, but as a collaborative guide who values and deeply respects who you are and the wisdom you already have within you. Our work together will be full of compassion, empathy, and trust. I’ll hold space for silence and discomfort and honour exactly where you are in the moment, while gently encouraging you to go out of your comfort zone when you are ready. Through it all, I will meet you exactly where you are and support you in the growth you seek.

On the Fence About Going to Therapy?

You don't have to go through a huge life event or trauma to benefit from therapy. Talking with a professional allows you to get a sense of how you are doing in your life, helps you get feedback on whatever you're feeling, and offers insight on how those emotions are affecting your everyday life. I believe that anyone can enjoy the benefits of therapy, whether you want to set life goals or establish healthy relationships. You don't need to be in a debilitating crisis to get support. When we are proactive about our mental health, we can prevent our concerns from festering into a larger problem. Therapy can provide relief from symptoms and restore our quality of life. It can help us learn how to be ourselves again.
