My Approach to Helping
Welcome to a safe, open, supportive, and sometimes informative environment.
You are involved with situations that lead to stress, anxiety, and sometimes depression. It is hard to manage the demands of life and maintain healthy self-esteem. Sometimes you set goals, achieve them, and that gives you a sense of accomplishment. Other times, the goals themselves become your worst enemy.
Trauma is not the story of something that happened back then, It is the current imprint of that pain, horror, and fear living inside people" - Bessel Van Der Kolk.
Adoption can be a source of rejection and loss, or a source of opportunity, strength, and vitality.
I provide safe and collaborative communication.
I utilize a trauma-informed approach.
I support you to process your experiences. Sometimes you may need to feel, other times you may need to manage your feelings, and sometimes it is about working to develop a positive and healthy thought-life (mindsets, attitudes, beliefs, etc.) that generates a thriving lifestyle.
There may be things you need to grieve, process, understand and cope with so that you can move on with your life.
I support you to explore self-care, self-talk, and internalized beliefs. Ultimately, you learn to "befriend" yourself.
I support you in the therapeutic process in many ways. Some of these ways include Cognitive-Behavior Therapy, Positive Psychology, Adlerian Individual Counseling, Mindfulness Approaches, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Person-Centered Therapy, and many other ways. Feel free to ask me more about these modalities. Let's figure out the way that works best for you!
I look forward to meeting you and working with you!
